I am fascinated in the way that events, moments, and experiences in people’s lives merge and create their identity. In a world where we are constantly stimulated by the things around us, the process of slowing down to reflect on past versions of myself, my actions, behaviors and how I connect to and move through the world is integral to my practice. Through ceramics, paintings, prints, and drawings, I seek to understand myself and why I am the way I am through my own past and present. It’s often hard for me to understand and identify my own emotions in the moment, but through the passage of time I can re-evaluate my experiences to better understand them and recognize how they inform my identity today. I incorporate both representational and abstract aspects to pieces and combine things that don’t often go together to visually depict contradictions and changes in who I am, who I was, and who I’m becoming.
